A manifesto for unconventional leaders everywhere
Welcome to Quiet Leaders Club, where we aim to amplify unconventional leaders.
An unconventional leader is anyone who doesn’t fit the traits of a stereotypical leader - AKA pretty much anyone who isn’t a rich, wealthy white dude (no hate, it’s just…you’re ahead of most people already and things could do with a bit of shaking up).
We’re fiercely passionate about this because we believe that more diversity in leadership builds stronger and more compassionate workforces, making them a better place to work for everyone.
Having people who don’t fit the typical mould in positions of power is beneficial for companies, too: it allows for more innovation and creative thinking, which often results in growth, financial and otherwise.
Here’s our manifesto - if it resonates with you, make sure you come and join our community over on Instagram, read our articles and listen to our podcast to build a career that works for you.
You don’t need to change your personality to change your career
During your career, you may have been told that you’re too quiet, too weird, not social enough.
Told that you need to change in order to be successful in the career you’re pursuing.
That you’re not enough.
Well, I have news for you: you are enough, and you don’t need to change who you are to build the career that you dream of. You just need to utilise your skills to your advantage.
Loud doesn’t equal better
In a world that often celebrates the loudest voice in the room, it can be tough to stay true to your authentic self.
Quiet people tend to be self-aware, thoughtful, strategic and unafraid to shine a light on others - all invaluable leadership skills.
Just because you don’t feel the need to shout, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t a powerhouse.
Find your own style of leadership
Quiet Leaders Club is all about empowering you to embrace your natural strengths instead of trying to be something you’re not.
We want to equip you to understand your leadership style so you can forge your own career path, your way.
Be what you want to see
Not being the “default” type of person in your industry can be incredibly difficult.
Just by pursuing this career, you’re showing others like you that it can be done and inspiring them to do the same.
Don’t live in your comfort zone
While we want you to be authentic to yourself, we also don’t want you to shy away from challenges and showing up proudly.
Self-belief is a huge factor in whether you achieve your goals, and guess what? Being a little bit uncomfortable and stretching the limits of your comfort zone builds self-belief and confidence like nothing else.
Show yourself what you can do and you’ll be unstoppable.
Lift and amplify others
A great leader isn’t afraid to shine their light on others.
Learn to recognise, nurture and highlight talent and not only will you be contributing to someone’s career, but you’ll be building valuable connections and contributing to making the workplace a nicer place to be.
